What is it that makes the Kolian Chronicles the most compelling sci-fi series of the last year? The answer is simple: great writing, great characters and a great story. Just when you think Le Soum has run out of ideas for compelling murder mysteries, Parental Control gives us the series' most daring plot yet.I won't say too much as I do not want to ruin the many twists and turns the reader will experience, but this reader was on the edge of his seat for the entire book. But I would urge readers to read Something Blew straight after this, as the story continues into that wonderful book.
Something I haven't made enough of in my previous reviews of Le Soum's work is how brilliant and cutting the satire is. It would be one thing for the writing to be funny, but it is quite another when you realise how much of the world the author has created serves as an allegory for our troubled times.
If that type of writing sounds appealing to you, pick up this book.
